Where We’ve Been …
In response to the loss of over 20,000 manufacturing job in the
last decade and the recognition that Ohio has the resources to develop a
vibrant advanced energy economy, OAE was formed in early 2007 to promote a new
energy policy for the state. Throughout the fall of 2007 and spring of 2008,
OAE was integrally involved in promoting the interests of the advanced and
renewable energy industries on behalf of our members before Ohio’s General
Assembly. On May 1, 2008, Ohio’s Governor Ted Strickland signed S.B. 221 into
law signaling a new day in Ohio’s energy future and new opportunities for the
advanced and renewable energy industries to increase their presence and
investment in the Buckeye state.
Where We’re Going …
In the new Senate Bill 221 era, OAE is continuing to lead the way . . .
advocating for increased
advanced energy funding, additional legislative support, and new program
opportunities from Ohio’s government and state agencies,
communicating with the
advanced energy industry, educational institutions, community foundations,
civic leaders, and others who support a comprehensive approach developing an
advanced energy industry in Ohio
educating community leaders,
elected representatives, the manufacturing industry, Ohio’s educational
institutions, [add group] and Ohio’s school children about the positive
environmental impact and economic opportunities associated with integrating
advanced energy technologies into their communities and business operations.
preparing as the
implementation phase of the advanced energy provisions of Senate Bill 221
commences to ensure that the implementing agencies, the utility industry, and
the advanced energy industry work together to ensure that the goals and
intentions of this landmark piece of legislation are fully carried out.
